What Does The Bible Say about Emotions?

What Does The Bible Say about Emotions? Tonight we will be talking about this.  I want to start out a little differently before going into scriptures. I want to start out with some song lyrics and then a quote.

The first song I would like to start out with is a song called Difference Maker and the lyrics say this: Yeah, isn't it amazing how a man can find himself alone

Call into the darkness for an answer that's he's never known

Yeah, isn't it amazing how God can take a broken man

Yeah, let him find a fortune, let him ruin it with his own two hands

And he climbs on up the hill on the rock on which he stands

He looks back at the crowd

He looks down at his hands and he says

I am a difference maker

Oh, I am the difference maker

Oh, I am the only one who speaks to him

And I am the friendliest of friends of God

Yeah, isn't it amazing how a man can find himself alone

Call into the darkness for an answer that's he's never known

Yeah, isn't it amazing how a God can take a broken man

Yeah, let him find a fortune, let him ruin it with his own two hands

He walks on up the hill to the rock on which he stands

He looks back at the crowd

He looks down at his hands and he says

I am a difference maker

The second song I want to share is called The Rock Won't Move and the lyrics say this: When the ground beneath my feet gives way

And I hear the sound of crashing waves

All my world is washing out to sea

I'm hidden safe in the God who never moves

Holding fast to the promise of the truth

That You are holding tighter still to me

Oh, the Rock won't move and His word is strong

The Rock won't move and His love can't be undone

The Rock won't move and His word is strong

The Rock won't move and His love can't be undone

The Rock of our Salvation

My hope is in the promise of Your blood

My support within the raging flood

Even in the tempest, I can sing

I'm hidden safe in the God who never moves

Holding fast to the promise of Your truth

That You are holding tighter still to me

The Rock won't move and His word is strong

The Rock won't move and His love can't be undone

The Rock won't move and His word is strong

The Rock won't move and His love can't be undone

The Rock of our Salvation

The last song I want to share is called Christ Be All Around Me and the lyrics say this: As I rise, strength of God

Go before, lift me up

As I wake, eyes of God

Look upon, be my sight

As I wait, heart of God

Satisfy and sustain

As I hear, voice of God

Lead me on, be my guide

Be my guide

Above and below me

Before and behind me

In every eye that sees me

Christ be all around me

Above and below me

Before and behind me

In every eye that sees me

Christ be all around me

And as I go, Hand of God

My defense, by my side

And as I rest, breath of God

Fall upon, bring me peace

Bring me peace

Above and below me

Before and behind me

In every eye that sees me

Christ be all around me

The quote I would now like to share with all of you says: Though our feelings come and go, God's Love for us does not.

I want us to now take a look at some scriptures. The scriptures we are going to take a look at now are Philippians 4:6-7, Romans 12 verse 2, Ecclesiastes 3:4, Joshua 1 verse 9, 2 Timothy 1 verse 7, Romans 8 verse 28, Romans 12 verse 9, Proverbs 15 verse 13, John 11 verse 35, Phillipians 4 verse 13, Ephesians 6 verse 13, Proverbs 16 verse 32, 1 Peter 5 verse 7, 2 Corinthians 5 verse 7, Galatians 6 verse 9, James 1 verse 3, and James 1:19-20.

In the scriptures and what was shared earlier, we see how God's Love doesn't change for us because God is Love. We see how God's Mercy never changes, and we see that we don't give up because God encourages us to keep going. This makes me think of a song by Land of Color called Warriors where one of the lines say: Even when we fall the battle's not our own, we will find the strength when we let go to be your Warriors. When I think of that line right there, it makes me know and realize that even when we feel sad, or down about ourselves because that is what the enemy wants to feel a lot of the time, and not be happy. It makes me know and realize that it's okay to feel emotions like that, but the great thing is knowing that God turns those bad days into good days in order for us to be happy again and realize our potential and our happiness in life.

God provides our happiness and He's given us emotions to feel, but He's given us so much more and that is life. He's given us life to be who we are called to be according to His Purpose. We read about that tonight in the scriptures from the book of Romans, and If felt it was important to share again with all of you tonight. I want to share two quotes, before getting to what I want to end on tonight and before I have all of you share prayer requests and comments. Here are the quotes, I would like to share.

Don't hide your scars. Wear them as proof that God heals.

Sometimes emotions get the best of us. Take a deep breath, and redirect your thoughts. Pray that God will lead you to the solution.

This is what I would like to end with tonight before you all share your comments and prayer requests. How have you seen God work in your life to help someone who might be feeling lonely, and how did you help them to feel not alone and let them know that God is with them?

Ministry and what the Bible says about it.

Tonight I would like to talk about Ministry and what the Bible says about it.

I would like to share something that as I was preparing for this study, that I got reminded of and that is God doesn't call the equipped, He equips the called. I've heard this mentioned from a friend,  and I liked what was mentioned and wanted to share it with all of you guys tonight.

I would like to now look at some scriptures that talk about Ministry. The scriptures we are going to look at are Ephesians 4:11-13, 2 Timothy 2:15, 2 Corinthians 6:3-10, Romans 10:13-15, Acts 20:24, Hebrews 13:7, 2 Corinthians 3:6, James 4:10, Matthew 28:18-20, Galatians 5:13.

When we take a look at these scriptures we see how we can apply some of them to our own life. We see that God calls us to be children of God to serve and love each other.

Sometimes when we think of how to help people, what do we normally think of being able to do to help them?

Well some examples are by praying with and for them, talking with them, encouraging them, reading scripture with them, sharing scripture for them to read, being a light to them in any way that you can so that they can have a personal relationship with God and take that first step into knowing who God is because when we think of what God does, He ministers to all of His children and those who don't know who He is because they don't have someone in their life to share about God and His Word to them.

This is where we can make a difference in their lives. We can be the change and that brings me to what I want to look at next with all of you tonight. I now want us to look at scriptures that talk about leading by example. The scriptures we are going to look at tonight are Titus 2 verse 7, John 16 verse 33, Matthew 5 verse 14-16, 1 Peter 5 verse 3, John 10 verse 11, Psalm 78 verse 22, Acts 1 verse 8, John 21 verse 15-17, and John 5 verse 19.

In these scriptures we see how we can be leading by example and sharing God's Word and the love of God with others who desperately want to know who He is.

I want us to take a look at a couple more scriptures tonight because I feel it's important to be able to understand what we are learning about tonight. The scriptures we are now going to take a look at tonight are scriptures about what the Bible says about Lead by Example.

Now while this is similar to what we just read, I want to still have us look at some scriptures, so we can understand what it is we are talking about with Ministry and what the Bible says about it. The scriptures we are going to look at tonight are Philippians 3 verse 17, 1 Samuel 16 verse 7, Proverbs 22 verse 6, 1 Peter 2 verse 21, James 3 verse 1, Isaiah 61 verse 1, John 3:16, James 4 verse 7, and Galatians 6 verse 1.

So as we see in the scriptures that when we lead and are leading by example that we can share God's Word and share about the Love of God with others, because we see that God didn't make a mistake when He created us. As I prepared this study, and what we have learned so far, I think of a song by an artist named Amy Picard who has a song called Perfectly Imperfect. I think of this song because all of us are perfectly imperfect children of God trying to lead by the example God has given us to minister to others who are feeling lost.

I want to share a song called Sisters and Brothers by Sidewalk Prophets. The lyrics say this: Sun up, gonna work like a little tin soldier, Marchin' to your own beat, the world on your shoulders, We all struggle and we're not alone, You try and you try, but you never have to do it on your own, no, And I believe, yes I believe, We're all a part of a family, And nothing in this world could come between

'Cause we are, we are, we are, We are, we are, we are

Sisters and brothers, Needin' each other, Father, help us see, That we are, we are, we are, Together with one heart

Sisters and brothers, Needin' each other, We are, So what, who cares? We're all a bit different, Shout it out, celebrate

What we've been given, The world can tell us that we don't belong, but Sing together, it's a beautiful, beautiful song, And I believe, yes I believe We're all a part of a family, And nothing in this world could come between

'Cause we are, we are, we are, We are, we are, we are

Sisters and brothers, Needin' each other, Father, help us see That we are, we are, we are Together with one heart

Sisters and brothers, Needin' each other, We are Because of His love, we'll never live alone, Because of His love, our lives will overflow Beautifully broken, we are the redeemed Made to share the love of the coming King

With these lyrics we see that the ministry of what God puts on our heart to share is what we need in this world right now because when we truly think about it, there are times when bad things happen, but God takes the bad to turn it into good and make it Beautifully Broken.

We are not mistakes, but we are children of God.

Here are the two things I want to end on and leave with.

Sometimes you must stand still in order to get moving to where God wants you to go.

Your Life is a ministry. People are watching you whether you know it or not.

What the Bible says about Keeping Your Word

Tonight I will be talking about what the Bible says about Keeping Your Word. I would like to start by sharing a quote.

God keeps His Word. When He says something, He does it. When He promises something, He keeps it.

I would like us to now look at some scriptures. The scriptures we will look at tonight are 1 John 2 verse 5, Ecclesiastes 5 verse 4-7, Numbers 30 verse 1-2, Matthew 5 verse 33-37, John 1 verse 1, Psalm 119 verse 11, Psalm 119 verse 9, Psalm 119 verse 105, Hebrews 4 verse 12, 2 Peter 3 verse 9, Numbers 23 verse 19, Psalm 89 verse 34, Luke 1 verse 37, Proverbs 11 verse 3, Romans 8 verse 28, John 7 verse 38, Numbers 32 verse 24, Colossians 3 verse 16.

We see in scriptures that God helps us as children of God to keep our word not just with Him, but with others. It can be difficult at times to keep our word because sometimes you may not be able to. We have things in our lives where keeping our word, especially if it's a promise made to someone can be difficult. It can be hard because there are some promises that can't be kept, and when it comes down to those situations, how do we know what to do? Well, we know by going to God in prayer is the best thing to do because He will help us and show us the right thing to do in keeping our word, our promise to others even if it has to be a different way, God always helps us see the true meaning of what it really means to keep our promises. The best example of this and what I want to get across is that God's Word is always True, it's the one thing that we can Rely on and just like God we can depend on Him to keep His Word with us because He loves us so much that He will never leave us and because of that we don't have to be afraid. The enemy might try to stop us from keeping our word, our promises, and everything God has worked hard to give us, and continues to give us, but the difference between the enemy and God is that God stops the enemy from doing that to us and the enemy will never win the battle because we know God always wins.

There is a song I would like to share called Promises by Maverick City Music and the lyrics say this: Though the storms may come and the winds may blow

I'll remain steadfast

And let my heart learn, when You speak a word

It will come to pass

Great is Your faithfulness to me

Great is Your faithfulness to me

From the rising sun to the setting same

I will praise Your name

Great is Your faithfulness to me

When the seasons change

You remain the same

God from age to age

Though the earth may pass away

Your word remains the same, yeah

You're history can prove

There's nothing You can't do

You're faithful and true

Though the storms may come and the winds may blow

I'll remain steadfast

And let my heart learn, when You speak a word

It will come to pass

Great is Your faithfulness to me, oh

Great is Your faithfulness

From the rising

From the rising sun to the setting same (I will praise Your name)

I will praise Your name

Great is Your faithfulness to me, yeah, yeah (oh, oh)

Your faithfulness, it never runs out (yeah)

It never runs out

Oh-oh, Your faithfulness

Oh, it never runs out (it never runs out)

It never runs out (it never runs out)

With this we see that God's Love for us never fails, but we see that the promises of God will never fail because God's Love is unconditional because God is Love. God is Love because He first loved us when He brought us into this world because we were created in His Image. We have purpose, but what are some things we can do to keep our word, even when it can be hard to do at times?

How can we show God's grace and mercy and keep His Word close to our hearts and share it with others?

This is what I would like to leave all of you with tonight.

John 14 verse 27 says: Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.

What the Bible says about Loneliness

Tonight I would like to talk about what the Bible says about Loneliness. I want to begin by looking at scriptures. The scriptures we are going to look at tonight are Psalm 27 verse 10, 1 Peter 5 verse 7, Isaiah 41 verse 10, Psalm 23 verse 4, Hebrews 13 verse 5, Joshua 1 verse 5, John 14 verse 8, Philippians 4 verse 6-7, Psalm 38 verse 9, Psalm 147 verse 3, 1 Samuel 12 verse 22, Psalm 68 verse 5-6, Psalm 62 verse 8, Psalm 25 verse 16, Romans 8 verse 35-39, 2 Timothy 4 verse 16-18,  John 14 verse 13.

Thank you all for reading. I would like to share a song with all of you. The song is God Only Knows by For King and Country and the lyrics I want to share from that song say this: God only knows what you've been through, God only knows what they say about you, God only knows how it's killing you, But there's a kind of love that God only knows

God only knows what you've been through, God only knows what they say about you, God only knows the real you, There's a kind of love that God only knows, There's a kind of love that, There's a kind of love, You keep a cover over every single secret, So afraid if someone saw them they would leave, But somebody, somebody, somebody sees you, Somebody, somebody will never leave you

God only knows what you've been through, God only knows what they say about you, God only knows how it's killing you, But there's a kind of love that God only knows

God only knows what you've been through, God only knows what they say about you, God only knows the real you, There's a kind of love that God only knows

For the lonely, for the ashamed, The misunderstood, and the ones to blame, What if we could start over, We could start over, We could start over, Oh for the lonely, for the ashamed, The misunderstood, and the ones to blame

What if we could start over, We could start over, We could start over, 'Cause there's a kind of love that God only knows, God only knows what you've been through

God only knows what they say about you, God only knows the real you, But there's a kind of love that God only knows, God only knows what you've been through

God only knows what they say about you, God only knows the real you, There's a kind of love that God only knows

God only knows where to find you, God only knows how to break through, God only knows the real you, There's a kind of love that God only knows

In all these lyrics we see that even when we feel lonely, misunderstood, feeling like we need a day to start over that God knows the real us, the people He made us to be in His Image, and the true love is God because only He knows our fears, our hurts, our anxieties, our problems. We all go through difficult times where we want to give up because we feel Loneliness, we feel alone which is apart of that because we feel and we get to some points in life where we feel discouraged and we just want to give up. See that is what the enemy wants from us, He doesn't want us to feel happy but He wants us to feel the Loneliness, and discouragement, and the doubts that are lies, that He puts in our head to make us feel down. I heard it once said by someone that I know that we sometimes have to get uncomfortable in our Faith and let God take over. Now I heard that from someone that I've gotten to know that has helped me grow spiritually with God and in my Faith walk with Him. I heard it from Joseph Neal who is host of His show and ministry Christian Media Spotlight. I share this with all of you because it reminds me that even when I feel lonely at times, that God, my family, friends, and everyone who has come into the ministries that I'm apart of and are in my life, were brought into my life for purpose because of God who brought them into my life to show me that there's so much more to this life than the loneliness and sadness we see on the news. We can take the loneliness, and turn it around into something good that God has planned.

My questions I want to ask all of you now is this.

When have you felt lonely, and how did you ask God to help you overcome the loneliness you felt?

If you could give advice to someone who feels loneliness a lot, what would you say to help them not feel so alone?

Thank you all for sharing, here are some things I would like to share with all of you before I have you share your prayer requests and comments.

You are never alone when You are alone with God

Look for yourself and you will find loneliness and despair. But look for Christ and you will find Him and everything else.

I would now like for anyone to be able to share any prayer requests and comments they may have. Thank you all for sharing. Here are the last two things I would like to leave with tonight. Matthew 11 verse 28 says: Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

We are not al-one We are... All One

A Heart Of Multitude
