Tonight I want to talk about what the Bible says about Worthy. Before I begin to share and the scriptures we are going to look at, let us pray. Here is the first thing I would like to start off of with. Worthy is the Lamb who was slain
Holy, holy is He, Sing a new song to Him who sits on, Heaven's mercy seat, Worthy is the Lamb who was slain
Holy, holy is He, Sing a new song to Him who sits on, Heaven's mercy seat. This comes from a song called Revelation Song.
I want us to take a look at some scriptures now. The scriptures we are going to look at tonight are, Revelation 5 verse 9, Psalm 150 verse 6, Philippians 1 verse 6, Psalm 138 verse 8, Hebrews 4 verse 16, 2 Corinthians 12 verse 9, John 14 verse 6, Ephesians 1 verse 6, Isaiah 49 verse 16, Hebrews 11 verse 1, John 1 verse 12, Revelation 5 verse 4.
We see in scriptures that we are worthy, and that we are God's beloved children. I want to share two songs now.
The first one being by Sarah Kroger called Belovedness.
You've owned your fear and all your self-loathing, You've owned the voices inside of your head, You've owned the shame and reproach of your failure, It's time to own your belovedness, You've owned your past and how it's defined you, You've owned everything everybody else says, It's time to hear what your father has spoken, It's time to own your belovedness, He says, "You're mine, I smiled when I made you, I find you beautiful in every way
My love for you is fierce and unending, I'll come to find you, whatever it takes, My beloved", You've owned the mess you see in the mirror, You've owned the lies that you're just not enough, You've been so blinded by all you're comparing, It's time to own your belovedness
He says, "You're mine, I smiled when I made you, I find you beautiful in every way, My love for you is fierce and unending, I'll come to find you, whatever it takes My beloved". The second song I would like to share is Jericho by Andrew Ripp. Ooh, I been stacking up the years I spent
Trading punches with the enemy, Ooh, built myself a double thick stone tower of lies, Higher than the eye can see, Trapped in my flesh and bone, Crying out to You, Lord
I'm desperate, Love, come rattle this cage and set me free
All of my fears like Jericho walls, Gotta come down, come down, All of my fears like Jericho walls, Gotta come down, come down, oh Lord, my prison turns to ruin, When Your love moves in, All of my fears like Jericho walls, Gotta come down, come down, come down.
We see here that God can tear down the walls and as His beloved children we know that we are worthy in His Eyes.
When we think of worthiness, what are some things that come to mind when we truly think of what it means to be worthy?
There are three things I would like to share with you.
The first being a scripture. Luke 12 verse 6-7 says: Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? And not one of them is forgotten before God. Why, even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not; you are of more value than many sparrows.
The second thing I would like to share is a song called Sparrows by Jason Gray. You can't add a single day by worrying, You'll worry your life away, Oh don't worry your life away, You can't change a single thing by freaking out
It's just gonna close you in, Oh don't let the trouble win
You may feel alone, But you're not on your own, If He can hold the world He can hold this moment, Not a field or flower escapes His notice, Oh even the sparrow, Knows He holds tomorrow, Lean in and it's hard to miss, Everything can change, When you make it His, Oh He wants to carry it
Carefree in the care of God, When you let it go, You'll find that He's enough, Oh you never leave His love, You don't walk alone, If He can hold the world He can hold this moment, Not a field or flower escapes His notice, Oh even the sparrow, Knows He holds tomorrow, There's not a single star that's out of place, There's nothing broken He can't remake, If you long for hope when you're afraid
Oh look at the sparrow, Look at the sparrow, If He can hold the world He can hold this moment, Not a field or flower escapes His notice, Oh even the sparrow, Knows He holds tomorrow, Even the sparrow knows, He holds tomorrow.
The third thing I would like to share is something I heard from a friend which is, worry doesn't add a day to our life.
Here is a song I would like to share again by Jason Gray called I'm Gonna Let It Go. It's hard for me to let go, hard for me to breathe, Thinking that I gotta control it all, I can feel my worry and anxiety, When it's slipping through my fingers and I know it, I've been losing my sleep, I've been losing my cool, I can feel my heart go boom, boom, boom
Starin' at the ceiling, feeling like a fool, I'm going under and I know it, But I hear You whisper to me, If I lose my grip I could see, That You are carrying me, Oh, I'm gonna let it I'm gonna let it go, Oh, 'cause if I trusted, I could move with Your flow, Being carried in the current of Your love, When I lean into Your arms, You're enough, So, I'm gonna let it I'm gonna let it go, Time for me to let go, time for me to breathe, Knowing that He already holds it all, Time for me to turn down this anxiety, I can know my freedom in a moment, 'Cause when I lay it all down, You gonna lift me up, When I pour it all out You gonna fill my cup, You're holding out Your arms and telling me to jump
One, two, three, here I go, yeah, 'Cause I hear You whisper to me, If I lose my grip I will see, You're always carrying me
We see here that if we worry it doesn't do good because worry doesn't add a day to our life and because of that we can let it go. I want to share two quotes with all of you.
The first quote says: Have Faith. Sometimes You Just Have To Let Go And Let God Be In Control.
The last quote I would like to share says: You are valuable because You exist, not because of what you do or what you have done, but simply because you Are.
Debbie will you close us in prayer.
