What It Means To Have Confidence In Faith Alone

 Tonight I want to talk about What It Means To Have Confidence In Faith Alone.

I want to start off with a song by Sanctus Real called Confidence where the lyrics say this: I'm not a warrior, I'm too afraid to lose, I feel unqualified for what you're callin' me to, But Lord with your strength, I've got no excuse, 'Cause broken people are exactly who you use, So give me faith like Daniel in the lion's den, Give me hope like Moses in the wilderness, Give me a heart like David, Lord be my defense, So I can face my giants with confidence, You took a shepherd boy and made him a King, So I'm gonna trust you and give you everything, I'll be a conqueror 'cause you fight for me, I'll be a champion claiming your victory, So give me faith like Daniel in the lion's den, Give me hope like Moses in the wilderness, Give me a heart like David, Lord be my defense, So I can face my giants with confidence.

 I want us to look at some scriptures now. The scriptures we are going to look at tonight are: Hebrews 13 verse 6, 1 John 4 verse 18, Hebrews 10 verse 35-36, James 4 verse 13-15, Romans 8 verse 28, Ephesians 2 verse 8-9, Romans 5 verse 1, Romans 1 verse 17, Hebrews 11 verse 6, Romans 4 verse 3, John 3 verse 16, Galatians 5 verse 6, Hebrews 11 verse 1, Romans 10 verse 17, John 5 verse 24, and the last one we are going to look at tonight is Galatians 3 verse 24.

We see in the scriptures that with God we can have the confidence to do all things through Him that gives us strength. Our Faith can be made stronger in everything we do through God's Grace. We don't walk this journey of Faith alone. Now with Hebrews 11 verse 1 we see how it has talked about how Faith is a substance of things hoped for and assurance of things yet not seen, but in different translations it talks about confidence and faith. Our God is strong, He gives us the character trait of confidence to overcome the obstacles and challenges we face in life.

Seek ye first the kingdom of God, And His righteousness;

And all these things shall be added unto you. Hallelu, Hallelujah! Ask, and it shall be given unto you; Seek, and you shall find. Knock, and it shall be opened unto you. Hallelu, Hallelujah! Man shall not live by bread alone,

But by every word, That proceeds out from the mouth of God. Hallelu, Hallelujah! When I think of the third verse in this song, I think of how God gives us the ability to share our Faith with confidence, so that others may come to know who He is and know that we are not defined by who the enemy tries to tell us we are, but we are defined by who God says we are because we walk by Faith and not by sight. God gives us these opportunities to pray, to seek, to tell others about our Faith with the confidence He gives.

Here are three things I would like to end on tonight.

Self confidence Has limited Potential, God-Confidence Has Unlimited Possibility.

''Faith is simply confidence in the trustworthiness of God.''

Put your Faith in God and confidence in yourself.

Let us pray.
